A short excerpt about morality, and following the ethical path no matter how challenging. When we lose our humanity, we lose ourselves.
The skunk sprayed under the house. No matter the inconvenience, the skunk doesn't deserve to die.
You can stink my whole house, sentence my belongings to what seems like eternal stench. Yet you do not deserve to die.
I cry for the trapped skunk. I have known fear, I do not wish it upon anyone. The skunk is not in the wrong. It is the one in touch with the natural world. Finding shelter and building a home like the rest of us.
I hear it trying to scratch away at its cage. I tear up, wishing I could hold it and tell it everything is going to be ok.
The man tries to take it far away, sentencing it to death. We plead and beg for the ethical way. No matter the inconvenience, the skunk doesn’t deserve to die.
